Another legendary actor left for heavenly abode

Not even 24 hours to Irrfan Khan’s sad demise and we hear about the death of another legendary actor Rishi Kapoor ji.  After a two-year-long battle with cancer, our beloved Chintu ji left for the heavenly abode this morning. His elder brother Randhir Kapoor informed a daily that Rishi Kapoor was rushed to the hospital as he was having breathing trouble. He was admitted to Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital in Girgaon, Mumbai. Randhir Kapoor also revealed that the actor was unable to talk. At 8:45 am this morning, he confirmed that he was no more.

Amitabh Bachchan ji was the first amongst the many to share the news of his dear friend passing away in his tweet which reads – ”

“He’s GONE .. ! Rishi Kapoor .. gone .. just passed away .. I am destroyed !”

Having worked together in many films, we understand what Mr. Bachchan must be feeling at the moment. Rishi ji spent over a year in New York for his treatment and felt much better on his return to India. Many in the industry like Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Amir Khan, Ranveer Singh, Taapsee Pannu, Parineeti Chopra paid their respect to him with some of the most heartfelt words.

In a statement, The Kapoor family said, “Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45 am in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last.

“He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food, and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him.

He was grateful for the love of his fans that poured in from the world over. In his passing, they would all understand that he would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears.

In this hour of personal loss, we also recognise the world is going through a very difficult and troubled time. There are numerous restrictions around movement and gathering in public. We would like to request all his fans and well-wishers and friends of the family to please respect the laws that are in force.”

The loss indeed is immeasurable to the Bollywood Industry and we pray for the family in these tough days!
We will miss you Chintu ji!
